The Office of State Parks (OSP) serves the citizens of Louisiana and visitors by preserving and interpreting natural areas of unique or exceptional scenic value, planning, developing and operating sites that provide outdoor recreation opportunities in natural surroundings, preserving and interpreting historical and scientific sites of statewide importance and administering intergovernmental programs related to outdoor recreation and trails.
This position is located at Bogue Chitto State Park, in Franklinton, LA. The purpose of this position is to perform groundskeeping and custodial duties to help maintain cleanliness and a safe environment for the customers. This includes all rental facilities and grounds, including cabins, trails, bathhouses, group camps, tent pads, etc. This position will also assist in the front office, such as checking in guests, handling forms of payment, assisting customers, and completing office paperwork. Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:
- Assists in upkeep of site grounds.
- Cleans site grounds, gardens, etc.; collects litter, debris, and trash.
- Mowing with zero turn mowers; trimming and pruning with weed eaters, chainsaws, etc.
- Blowing sidewalks and other areas with handheld & backpack blowers.
- Weeding flowerbeds and changing out plant material.
- Cleans interior and exterior of site facilities and grounds, to include but not limited to, cabins, group camps, bathhouses, trails, picnic tables, grills, etc.
- Use and maintain equipment such as buffer, auto scrubbers, pressure washers, vacuums, brooms, mops, etc.
- Operate the fee station at the park entrance. Register overnight and day use visitors; collect fees from customers.
- Greets visitors. Provides information regarding site accommodations, amenities, policies, procedures, laws, fees, tourist information, etc.

Location: Bogue Chitto State Park in Franklinton, LA
Appointment Type: Probational, Promotion, or Detail to Special Duty
Career Progression: This position may be filled as a Park Technician A, B, or C. As part of a Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled based on the qualifications of the selected applicant. Work Schedule: State Parks are open 365 days a year. Position will work a rotating schedule of 40 hours/week, which can include holidays and/or weekends as needed, to ensure coverage at the park.
Travel: Position requires driving around the park as part of the daily shift. Travel may be required to other state parks to assist in staffing or events, as needed. A state vehicle is available for employee use while on duty.
