Division: Office of Licensing/Call Center

The Louisiana Department of Insurance is seeking a customer-focused and detail-oriented Insurance Technician 1/2 to join the Office of Licensing/Call Center Division. This division serves as a primary point of contact for insurance producers, companies, and the public by providing information and assistance related to licensing and insurance regulations. In this role, you will help support compliance with Louisiana insurance laws while delivering professional and helpful customer service.

Minimum Qualifications

Two years of experience in administrative services.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 15 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for six months of the required experience.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

As an Insurance Technician 1/2 in the Office of Licensing/Call Center Division you will/may:

  • Serve as a point of contact for insurance producers, companies, and the public by responding to licensing and insurance-related questions via phone, email, and in-person inquiries.
  • Research insurance records, systems, and documentation to provide accurate information to callers, internal staff, and external stakeholders.
  • Provide general guidance, under supervision, on insurance laws, regulations, administrative policies, procedures, required fees, and document preparation.
  • Act as a liaison between departmental divisions and industry representatives to help resolve issues, exchange documentation, and coordinate communication.
  • Review filings, forms, and related documents to identify errors or missing information and issue violation notices with clear explanations when corrections are required.
  • Follow up on cases through correspondence or telephone contact to ensure corrective actions are completed.
  • Maintain organized electronic and paper records while handling sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
  • Assist with tracking, summarizing, and validating fees collected to support accurate daily deposits.
  • Provide courteous, professional customer service while supporting the Department’s regulatory mission.
  • Participate in training and on-the-job learning to build knowledge of insurance laws, regulations, and departmental processes.
  • Perform other related duties and special assignments as needed.

Career Progression: This position can be filled as an Insurance Technician 1 or 2.

Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
