The Office of State Parks (OSP) serves the citizens of Louisiana and visitors by preserving and interpreting natural areas of unique or exceptional scenic value, planning, developing and operating sites that provide outdoor recreation opportunities in natural surroundings, preserving and interpreting historical and scientific sites of statewide importance and administering intergovernmental programs related to outdoor recreation and trails.
This position is located at Poverty Point Reservoir State Park in Delhi, LA. The purpose of this position is to serve as the primary assistant to the Park Manager, in the management and administration of the site's operations, fiscal management, personnel, maintenance, customer service, interpretive, and facility management activities. Minimum Qualifications

Three years of experience in the operation, administration, or maintenance of parks, outdoor recreation, or historic sites; or in parks or conservation work; OR
Three years of experience in law enforcement, interpretive services, mobile equipment operation, building construction or maintenance.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the required experience. Job Specification

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:
Facilitates day-to-day site operation.
Prepares correspondence. Answers telephone inquiries. Attends meetings on behalf of the site.
Prepares purchase requests in coordination with maintenance, interpretive, law enforcement, and clerical staff for purchase of required items.
Assists in planning, organizing, directing, and controlling work activities of all personnel at the site to include administrative, maintenance, law enforcement, interpretive, housekeeping, and seasonal employees.
Assists in directing the staff in the cleaning and maintenance of facilities and grounds.
Assists park guests to enhance their overall experience. Provide information. Directs and/or performs fee collection tasks.
Assists in the coordination of scheduling of interpretive talks, tours, and outreach programs, special events, re-enactment and demonstrations on site or off site for individuals and groups.
Assists with site equipment inventory and property control.

Appointment Type: Probational, Promotional, or Detail to Special Duty
Location: Poverty Point Reservoir State Park, in Delhi, LA
Work Schedule: State Parks are open 365 days a year. Position will work a rotating schedule of 40 hours/week, that can include holiday and/or weekends as needed, to ensure coverage at the park.
Travel: Position requires driving around the park as part of the daily shift. A state vehicle is available for employee use while on duty.Louisiana as a State, is a Model Employer for People with Disabilities.
