POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Functions as the Range Control Maintenance Equipment Mechanic to support all motorized range equipment. Must be capable to work with minimal guidance, instruction, or supervision on equipment ranging from chainsaws and mowers to tractors and excavators. Available after normal duty hours, weekends, and holidays as required. Demonstrate strong communication skills interacting with organization personnel and contractors. Assist range employees preforming maintenance of equipment and assigned personnel. Trained and maintains a LaCarte Purchase Card for the purpose of purchasing all parts and material required to maintain all equipment. Read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics of equipment for repairs and fabrication projects. Schedules required services and ensures that all service kits are available. Responsible to maintain all equipment records to include all services preformed and parts repaired on each single item equipment. Ensures the daily, weekly, and monthly inspection as recommended by equipment manufacture. Knowledge and skills to recovery assets that may become broken from ranges and training area. Knowledge and skills to repair and troubleshoot hydraulic systems ranging from 20 hp tractors to 500 hp motor graders with onsite hose tools and presses. Preforms diagnostic of electrical systems and repairs faults as required. Responsible for coordination with vendors for repair parts, transportation, and purchase closeouts. Maintains a by item required yearly expenditures lists to accurately project maintenance budgets for the ITAM/ FMO budget coordinators for yearly execution. Serve as an Environmental compliance officer for the Range Control Section. Ensures everyday on hand quantity and types of lubes, oils, and fuels are available and low stock is reordered timely. Performs track repair to dozers, skid steers, and excavators. Operate Truck tractor with lowboy trailer and 40 foot dump trailer. Maintains safe and secure work environment as the shop and tool room manager. Attend all mandatory meetings (Safety, Town hall, etc.). Report to work on time, dress IAW LMD SOP, personal hygiene IAW LMD SOP, and follow all the regulations and SOPs. Perform other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have 3 – 5 year heavy construction equipment repair experience. Must maintain a valid driver’s license and attend State Employee Driver Training Class. Must have or be capable of acquiring a Commercial Drivers Licenses combination. Must have the ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted, including above the shoulder.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:- Must have a valid Driver's License, Social Security Card and Birth Certificate
- Must qualify to obtain a Department of Defense Common Access Card (CAC) Card.
- Must be available to report to duty during emergency or disaster situations.
Other periodic travel may be required. - Must meet physical requirements to perform functions of the position.
- Must attend/complete all Louisiana Military Department (LMD) annual training and other training required for the position.
