The Office of State Parks (OSP) serves the citizens of Louisiana and visitors by preserving and interpreting natural areas of unique or exceptional scenic value, planning, developing and operating sites that provide outdoor recreation opportunities in natural surroundings, preserving and interpreting historical and scientific sites of statewide importance and administering intergovernmental programs related to outdoor recreation and trails.
The purpose of this position is to educate the public on the natural and cultural resources of the state and to cultivate, protect, and utilize historical artifacts in support of state parks and state historical sites.

Minimum Qualifications
-
Three years of experience in archaeological or anthropological work; or in planning or presenting interpretive or educational programs relating to cultural or physical history; OR
Three years of experience in conservation work or natural resource management; or in planning or presenting interpretive or educational programs relating to the natural environment; OR
A bachelor's degree. Job Specification

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:
Develops and implements educational programs, interpretive exhibits, and audiovisual materials that connect visitors to the site and support site-specific goals.
Collaborates with educational institutions, tour operators, and community organizations to expand interpretive offerings and promote use of State Parks educational resources.
Reviews programs and exhibits with Administrative Office Educational Services and site management to ensure historical accuracy, interpretive value, and consistent quality.
Evaluates program effectiveness, maintains participation records, and reports results to the Administrative Office.
Participates in training and cross-training activities to enhance program delivery and support efficient site operations.
Assists with custodial tasks, gift shop operations, and inventory maintenance as needed.
Position-Specific Details:Appointment Type: Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment
Work Schedule: Audubon State Historic Site is open daily year-round (closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day). Position will work a rotating schedule of 40 hours/week, that can include other holidays and/or weekends as needed, to ensure coverage at the site.
Career Progression: This position may be filled as an Interpretive Ranger 1 or 2.
Location: Audubon State Historic Site, in St. Francisville, LA
Travel: Position may require driving around the park as part of the daily shift. A state vehicle is available for employee use while on duty.Louisiana as a State, is a Model Employer for People with Disabilities.
