The incumbent of this position serves as an Electronic Technician primarily responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of communication equipment and related technology at LSP.

Minimum Qualifications
- One year of experience or training in the maintenance or repair of mechanical or electronic office equipment, precision machinery, or electronic/electrical systems; OR
One year of experience or training in the installation, repair or maintenance of computer equipment or systems (hardware and/or software); OR
Possession of a CompTIA A+ Certification.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every six semester hours earned from an accredited college or university in electronics or computer science will substitute for one year of the required experience.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Must possess an appropriate Federal Communications Commission (FCC) radio-telephone license when working with marine and aviation transmitting equipment or with radar. Job Specification

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:
- Installs, maintains and repairs all two-way, portable and mobile radios, security alarm beeper system and portable beepers, transfriskers, metal detectors, closed-circuit security cameras and monitors and all related components of communication or security technology.
- Installs, updates and expands components and systems to equipment and checks for proper operation. Consults with Control Center and users of communication equipment daily regarding equipment submitted for repair, use of equipment and/or problems.
- Adjust system equipment to utilize resources in the proper use in accordance with applicable departmental regulations and institutional policies.

Appointment Type: PROBATION, or PROMOTION OF A PERMANENT, CLASSIFIED LOUISIANA STATE EMPLOYEE
- Current permanent status classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if accepted.
- An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted.
- This posting may also be used to fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment. If filled as a temporary job appointment, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.
