The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is responsible for managing and protecting the state's renewable natural resources, including all wildlife and aquatic life. This position is located in the Enforcement Division in the Office of the Secretary in the Special Operations Group.

Minimum Qualifications
One year of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been as a Wildlife Enforcement Corporal or higher rank in state service:
Five years of experience in wildlife conservation law enforcement.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of an active Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification.
Possession of a current driver's license.
Applicants may be required to qualify as an ex-officio notary public.
An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony, or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified by the hiring agency until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.
NOTE:
This job has special physical requirements in that the incumbent must lift heavy objects (50 lbs. or more), walk long distances, work in harsh weather conditions, fire handguns, rifles, and shotguns accurately, and have the ability to operate vehicles, boats, and all-terrain vehicles while in the performance of duties.Job Specification

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:
- Patrols public/private land and waters, including federal waters, using a variety of specialized equipment while enforcing laws, rules and regulations to protect and preserve the fish and wildlife resources and the citizens of the state.
- Provides public safety services on the waterways of the state.
- May be assigned to work and coordinate investigations in an undercover or covert capacity and may be required to infiltrate illegal activities involving fish and wildlife or other operations under the jurisdiction of the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.
- Serves as the first-line supervisor for sworn enforcement personnel assigned to Headquarters inside the Enforcement Division.
- Supervises and assists sworn personnel assigned to the Special Operation Group and coordinates executive protection as necessary.
- Temporarily performs duties as Section/Unit Commander in absence of Wildlife Enforcement Captain over Special Operations to include statewide enforcement effort coordination as it pertains to high level operations.
- Schedules, tracks and coordinates the specialized training of agents assigned to the unit and ensures training requirements are current.
