At the Department of Public Safety – Office of Management and Finance (DPS-OMF) our mission is to provide effective management and support services in an efficient and professional manner to all agencies within the Department of Public Safety - Public Safety Services and to public and private entities.
We’re looking for an Accounting Specialist 1/2/Tech within the Financial Services section at DPS-OMF. Minimum Qualifications
- One year of experience or training in accounting, auditing, bookkeeping, or financial operations or computations.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the required experience. Job Specification

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:
• Prepares and assists with balancing the monthly Office of Motor Vehicle Escrow Disbursements.
• Assists in the classification of revenues to include balancing and reconciling assigned Department of Public Safety accounts.
• Administers accounts receivable database to include entering, processing, billing, daily balancing, and monthly reconciliation of the subsidiary accounts receivable system
• Reviews and processes records of financial transactions, including invoices and/or deposit information relative to collections, refunds, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.

Appointment Type: Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment
Career Progression: This position may be filled at the Accounting Specialist 1/2/Technician, depending on the selected applicant's experience.
Location: This vacancy is located in East Baton Rouge Parish.
Work Schedule: Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
Compensation:The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience. The bi-weekly rates for each title are as follows:- Accounting Specialist 1 (AS609) -$1,101.60
- Accounting Specialist 2 (AS610) -$1,178.40
- Accounting Technician (AS612) -$1,348.80
