The position involves managing, coordinating, and supervising the design section's project plans for the Pavement Preservation Program (Non-Interstate) for District 62, ensuring quality control and cost-effective solutions for the traveling public. While in official capacity, DOTD employees must comply with applicable Louisiana and Civil Service laws, rules, and regulations, as well as DOTD policies, procedures, manuals, and directives.
Minimum Qualifications
- Possession of a high school diploma or GED plus four years of sub-professional engineering experience; OR
Six months of experience in sub-professional engineering, heavy mobile equipment operation, or mobile equipment maintenance plus four years of sub-professional engineering experience; OR
Twenty-four semester hours in one of the following specialized fields: architecture, cartography, construction management, construction technology, drafting, engineering, engineering graphics, engineering technology, industrial technology, landscape architecture, math, or physics; OR
A bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, construction management or construction technology. Job Specification

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:
- Utilizes advanced computer software like CADD, MS Office, and roadway, hydraulic, and guardrail design software.
- Demonstrates knowledge in interpreting and applying departmental policies, procedures, EDSMs, AASHTO Road Design Guidelines, 3R Road Design Guidelines, DOTD Road Design Standards, standard plans, contract specifications, and design manuals.
- Selects appropriate treatment for preserving asphaltic concrete roadways maintained by LADOTD.
Position-Specific Details:Appointment Type: This position may be filled as either a probational appointment, promotion, or by detail to special duty.
Work Schedule: Work hours are to be determined, Monday - Friday.
Compensation: Starting salary is $25.72/hourly with an additional $1.00/hourly premium pay for every hour worked.
