At the Lafourche Basin Conservation Levee & Drainage District, our mission is to ensure operational, financial, and maintain the integrity of the Westbank of the Mississippi Levee System, which consist of 63 miles from Donaldsonville, Ascension Parish to St. Charles Parish. Additionally, we maintain over 30 miles of flood protection in St. Charles Parish.
About this position
Mobile Equipment Operator 2/Heavy is a valuable part of the Lafourche Basin Conservation Levee & Drainage District because of their ability to operate equipment on the levee slopes to maintain the Mississippi River Levee & flood protection levees. This employee will work under the supervision of the Levee Foreman B and/or Levee Maintenance Director.
**Note: Only current Permanent, Classified employees of the Lafourche Basin Conservation Levee & Drainage District will be considered.**

Minimum Qualifications
Three years of experience in mobile equipment operations.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:
Operates amphibian marsh buggy excavators with long reach boom attachments for clearing trees and logs from drainage canals in swamp areas, as well as for dreading and driving pilings in swamp regions.
Operates Hyundai and Track Excavator with long reach boom attachments for digging drainage canals, loading dump trucks, placing rocks on levee slope and building protection levees.
Performs maintenance on and off levees utilizing 320 CL Caterpillar Amphibian Marsh Buggy Excavators with long reach boom attachments, 210 LC Hyundai Excavators with long reach boom attachments and 320 BL caterpillar Track Excavator with long reach boom attachment.
