The mission of the Lake Charles Housing Authority is to provide affordable, decent and safe rental housing for eligible low-income families, the elderly, and the persons with disabilities within the city limits of Lake Charles, Louisiana.
About this position
This position would be expected to uphold the same level of integrity as every other position within our agency with a willingness to learn about different program types and the HUD funding derived from each. Minimum Qualifications
- One year of experience or training in accounting, auditing, bookkeeping, or financial operations or computations.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the required experience. Job Specification

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:
- Making cash (money order) management records, including funds drawn and received, funds disbursed by sources, deposits of funds, issuance of funds and classifies revenue as to the sources of funding and expenditures as to their nature for all housing programs.
- Making bank deposits when needed
- Posting journals
- Reconciling bank statements
Appointment Type: Probational Appointment
Career Progression: This position may be filled as an Accounting Specialist 1, Accounting Specialist 2, or Accounting Technician.
Work Schedule: The workday is from 8:00am - 5:00pm, Monday through Friday with weekends and holidays off.
Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
