This is a part-time position located at the Capitol Annex Building in Baton Rouge, LA.
This position is responsible for the maintenance, transportation, and operation of the Louisiana Office of Tourism Mobile Welcome Center. This position requires that the employee be proficient in towing a 25-foot trailer on both highway and urban roadways. This position is responsible for ensuring that both the tow vehicle and Mobile Welcome Center remain roadworthy and meet all required safety standards at all times. The ideal candidate would have a valid CDL. This employee will also market Louisiana by distributing literature and promotional items at fairs, festivals, and marketing events. This position's work schedule will be dependent on the Mobile Welcome Center Activation calendar and will work an average of 40 hours per month.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:
Must have and maintain all applicable licenses and endorsements as required by state and federal law for the operation of vehicles and equipment.
- Transports Mobile Welcome Center trailer to Louisiana Office of Tourism (LOT) events.
- Transports Mobile Welcome Center for all necessary maintenance.
- Operates Tourism vehicles to LOT standards.
- Coordinates all logistics for the onsite deployment of the Mobile Welcome Center.
- Trains staff at Mobile Welcome Center events on the safe operation of the trailer and equipment.
- Performs both pre-trip and post-trip inspection of the trailer for all deployments.
- Coordinates and advises the Tourism Director concerning the loading of promotional items and LOT equipment on the Mobile Welcome Center trailer.
- Performs all routine maintenance on Mobile Welcome Center trailer.
- Coordinates the completion of all annual trailer inspection and annual professional maintenance of travel trailer.
- Advises Tourism Director of any needed modifications or major repairs to Mobile Welcome Center trailer.
- Provides guidance and oversees the onsite operation of the Mobile Welcome Center.
- Conducts on-the-job training for staff on the safe operation and procedures of the Mobile Welcome Center.
- Coordinates with and advises the Tourism Director on logistics and transportation for out of state deployments of the Mobile Welcome Center.
- Represents the LOT and our partners in a professional manner at Mobile Welcome Center activations and assists with the distribution of promotional items.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: This position will be filled as a part-time Classified WAE, limited to 1,245 working hours in a 12-month period. **Starting Hourly Pay varies, depending on experience.**
Work Schedule: This position will be required to travel. This position may be required to work weekends/evenings and/or holidays.
