This is a promotional opportunity, open only to current permanent, classified employees of the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries/Enforcement Division.
The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is responsible for managing and protecting the state's renewable natural resources, including all wildlife and aquatic life. LDWF supports a strong work ethic in its employees and incorporates the use of good science, accurate information and technology.
This position is located in the Enforcement Division within the Office of the Secretary. The incumbent of this position will assist in addressing the challenges of recruiting and retaining a diverse and effective workforce. This includes, but not limited to, identifying and attracting talent from a diverse pool, ensuring every candidate is treated fairly, verifying that the application and screening process is bias-free, working closely with human resources, participate in establishing policies that enhance the agency's hiring process and indirectly supervising personnel responsible for other talent acquisition functions.

Minimum Qualifications
Two years of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been as a Wildlife Enforcement Senior Agent or higher rank in state service:
Four years of experience in wildlife conservation law enforcement.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of an active Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification.
Possession of a current driver's license.
An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony, or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified by the hiring agency until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.
NOTE:
This job has special physical requirements in that the incumbent must lift heavy objects (50 lbs. or more), walk long distances, work in harsh weather conditions, fire handguns, rifles, and shotguns accurately and have the ability to operate vehicles, boats, and all-terrain vehicles while in the performance of duties.Job Specification

Job Duties:
Patrols public/private land and waters, including federal waters, using a variety of specialized equipment while enforcing laws, rules and regulations to protect and preserve the fish and wildlife resources and the citizens of the state. Provides public safety services on the waterways of the state. May be assigned to work and coordinate investigations in an undercover or covert capacity and may be required to infiltrate illegal activities involving fish and wildlife or other operations under the jurisdiction of the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.
