JOB NUMBER: 58/50687776/GIS/7.30.2025-SG

The purpose of this position is to create and maintain GIS databases. It is located in District 58/Unit 170, reporting to the District 58 Headquarters in Chase, LA. We are looking for an Analyst that is self-motivated, able to perform tasks with minimal supervision and able to interpret unforeseen conditions as they may arise. They will work closely with the survey and design teams, using various computer programs to deliver accurate results. We are looking for someone with the special knowledge of CAD software along with GIS software and hardware programs (i.e. ESRI, ArcGIS Pro). As a GIS Analyst, you will participate in appropriate DOTD structured training programs and attend all continuing education classes and conferences deemed necessary to facilitate the performance of required tasks.

Minimum Qualifications

Two years of experience in using geographic information systems (GIS), using digital mapping and/or surveying technology, or in aerial photography; OR

Twelve semester hours in a computer science, GIS, or geospatial field plus one year of experience in using geographic information systems, using digital mapping and/or surveying technology, or in aerial photography; OR

A bachelor’s degree with twelve semester hours in a computer science, GIS, or geospatial field.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

  • Collect high accuracy data, post processing of spatial data, and updating GIS databases with both spatial and non-spatial data.
  • Create and maintain GIS databases using geospatial data for various district departments
  • Use LIDAR data in conjunction with collected spatial data to create digital terrain models for Stage 0 cost analysis in proposed plan preparations


Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: Probational
Career Progression: This position may be filled as a GIS Analyst 1, 2, or 3.

Work Schedule: Work hours are 6:30 AM to 5:15 PM, Monday - Thursday.
Compensation:
  • GIS Analyst 1: Starting salary is $18.35/hourly.
  • GIS Analyst 2: Starting salary is $19.63/hourly.
  • GIS Analyst 3: Starting salary is $24.04/hourly.
