The Department of Environmental Quality/Office of Environmental Assessment has a vacancy.

The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality’s (LDEQ) mission is to provide service to the people of Louisiana through comprehensive environmental protection in order to promote and protect health, safety, and welfare.

Support the Teams Safeguarding Louisiana’s Water Resources. Work alongside the Water Planning and Assessment Division Administrator to help maintain and coordinate essential programs focused on water quality and management. You’ll assist with grants, contracts, and inventories, collaborating closely with federal, state, and nonprofit partners to ensure operations run smoothly and resources are well-managed.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

Working directly with the Water Planning and Assessment Division (WPD) Administrator, the incumbent will provide assistance to the programs within the WPD in developing, amending (as needed), maintaining, coordinating and tracking/monitoring grants, work plans, and contracts. The incumbent will work with contractors and other stakeholders
assisting LDEQ. The incumbent will work closely with LDEQ’s Financial Services Division (FSD), United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 6, Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry (LDAF), and a number of nonprofit organizations in providing the above mentioned assistance. The incumbent will also be responsible for preparing requisitions for purchase orders and maintaining inventories of water sampling equipment, surveying equipment, computers used in watershed modeling and other equipment used in the section.

  • Works directly with the WPD Administrator and Managers in assisting in the development and amendments of work plans and contracts, and coordinating the processing of these documents with LDEQ’s FSD as well as developing and processing contracts.
  • Works directly with the WPD Administrator and Managers, FSD, related division staff, and contractors in resolving contract issues, reviewing contract invoices to ensure compliance with contract terms, timelines, and rates, and coordinating with FSD and related division staff in resolving invoice issues.
  • Works directly with the WPD Administrator and Managers in preparing requisitions for purchase orders and coordinating with the Office of State Procurement (OSP). Maintains filing and tracking system for grants, work plans, contracts, and requisitions for the WPD, maintains updated grant balances to assist management in making program decisions.
  • Working with the FSD Accountant Manager 3 and Administrative Program Director 2, incumbent prepares grant application documents for entry into the grants.gov application portal, gathers information for the clearing house documentation needed for the grants, and assists department personnel with their application documentation.
  • Reviews the necessary grant requirements for the contract that utilize grant funding. Incumbent also routes applications and awards for approvals, ensuring that all grant managers submit MBE/WBE/DBE grant reporting requirements in a timely manner, ensuring that grant information that needs to be retained by the department is kept up to date and inputted into OnBase (the department’s internal document management system).

Appointment Type: This position may be filled as either a probational appointment, job appointment (a temporary appointment not to exceed four years), or promotion of permanent classified employee. If the position is filled as a job appointment, it could be converted to a probational appointment should funding become available.
