Minimum Qualifications

One year of experience or training in the installation, maintenance, or repair of hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, and/or electronic systems in either a commercial or industrial setting; OR

One year of experience or training in the maintenance or repair of computer-driven heavy equipment.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
New employees must be able to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC).

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:
Performs advanced-level duties in the repair and maintenance of computer-driven cranes, equipment and vehicles used at the Port of Lake Charles.

Performance of these duties requires the ability to perform manual physical labor such as standing, stooping, bending, walking, pushing, pulling, climbing and lifting 30 pounds or more; work outdoors in all types of weather; work around waterfront

This position participates in a Career Progression Group (CPG) and may be filled as a Port Crane Technician 1-4. The level at which the vacancy is filled will be determined by the qualifications of the candidate selected. This position provides the opportunity to advance within this job series.

The actual starting salary depends on the education and experience of the selected applicant.
