LOCATION AND POSITION INFORMATION:

This position is located at Jimmie Davis State Park in Chatham, LA.
The minimum rate of pay is $17.36/hour for this position, depending on experience.
If offered the position, candidate must be able to drive to Baton Rouge to submit a background check.
This position is in a Career Progression Group up to a Park Ranger 2. As part of a Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as a Park Ranger 1 or 2 based on the qualifications of the selected applicant. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
No experience or training is required.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by State and Federal laws is granted.
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
Possession of a current Louisiana driver's license.
This position may require the incumbent to handle and carry firearms.
Willingness and ability to attain a Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification.Job Concepts
Function of Work:
To enforce all state laws, rules and regulations on a facility operated by the Office of State Parks and provide assistance to visitors.
Level of Work:
Entry.
Supervision Received:
Close from a Park Manager or other official or higher level.
Supervision Exercised:
None, although on small sites the incumbent may oversee the maintenance crew as needed.
Location of Work:
Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, Office of State Parks. May be used by other organizations with approval from the Department of State Civil Service. (such as the Sabine River Authority).
Job Distinctions:
Differs from Park Ranger 2 by the lack of journeyman level responsibility and authority.
Differs from other law enforcement jobs by the confinement of work area to facilities operated by the Office of State Parks.Examples of Work
