Climb and trim as well as remove a variety of trees; apply chemicals and do minor tree surgery on diseased or injured trees; operate medium and heavy trucks and other comparable mobile equipment; and perform other related duties as assigned.

The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
Applicants must meet all the requirements for the position they are seeking as of the date of the application, unless otherwise specified. Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experience may not be gained concurrently. Your possession of the required amount of experience will not in itself be accepted as proof of qualification for the position. Overall paid or unpaid experience must be of such scope and responsibility as to conclusively demonstrate that you have the ability to perform the duties of the position. Note: Your calculation of experience must be based on full-time, 40-hour work weeks. Part-time experience must be pro-rated. Example: Twelve months of experience at 20 hours/week is equivalent to six months of experience, not one year. Also, hours worked in excess of 40 hours/week will not be credited. Example: Twelve months of experience at 60 hours/week is equivalent to one year of experience, not one and a half years.
Experience: One year of experience in the care and maintenance of grounds and landscaped areas, including the trimming, pruning, and caring of trees and shrubs, and some truck driving; or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
License: A valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class B is required. Attach a copy of your CDL license to your application.
Note: If you have an out-of-state CDL, you must transfer it to a Hawaii-issued CDL by the time of appointment. Also, for positions requiring a CDL, the Federal Department of Transportation regulations require pre-employment testing for controlled substances. If you are selected for a position that requires a CDL, you will be informed by the hiring agency of when and where to report for testing.
