Description:
Are you passionate about live video production, audiovisual (AV) technology, and supporting virtual events? The Hawai'i State Senate is seeking a Video Support Technician to join our Senate Data Systems team for the 2026 legislative session. This temporary, full-time role is ideal for tech-savvy professionals eager to gain hands-on experience in government, public policy, and live event streaming.As a Video Support Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring seamless video conferencing, livestreaming, and technical support for legislative proceedings at the Hawai'i State Capitol. This position is perfect for candidates with experience in AV systems, multi-camera production, and video conferencing platforms who thrive in fast-paced, collaborative environments.
Key Responsibilities- Video Conferencing & AV Support: Setup, operate, and manage conference room AV equipment.Facilitate Zoom and other video conferencing platforms for Senate meetings and hearings.
- Camera Operation & Livestreaming: Operate pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) cameras and manage multiple video sources using hardware production switchers to deliver high-quality livestreams to platforms like YouTube.
- Multi-System Integration: Manage and integrate PC-based applications for signal routing, on-screen titling, and real-time meeting facilitation.
- Technical Troubleshooting: Provide live technical support to legislators, staff, and the public during hearings. Diagnose and resolve connectivity, audio, and video issues promptly.
- System Coordination: Collaborate with IT teams to maintain system reliability, implement best practices, and document operational procedures.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

LEGAL AUTHORIZATION TO WORK REQUIREMENT: The State of Hawai'i requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
- Experience with multi-camera production, AV systems, and streaming platforms preferred.
- Advanced computer literacy and ability to manage multiple applications simultaneously.
- Proficiency with video conferencing tools (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Webex).
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and time management skills.
- Excellent customer service and teamwork abilities.

This position is exempt from the civil service and considered temporary in nature. Therefore, if you are appointed to the position, your employment will be considered to be "at will," which means that you may be discharged from your employment at the prerogative of your department head or designee at any time.
Benefits & Details- Salary Range: $3,500 – $4,000 per month, commensurate with experience.
