The current vacancy is with THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, AIRPORTS DIVISION and is located at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport. This current vacancy REQUIRES a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A, with Endorsement N (Tank vehicles 1,000 gallons or more capacity), and have no restrictions relating to codes E (manual transmission) and I (Class C vehicle over 18,000 pounds GVWR) within six (6) months of hire.

Duties Summary
Independently performs the full range of maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair work on computerized systems (e.g., engine/fuel management system, anti-lock brakes, etc.) in motor vehicles; utilizes computerized equipment (e.g., scanning instrument, oscilloscope, digital voltmeter, etc.) to test electronic systems, diagnose problems, and complete microprocessor-related repairs; performs journey-level mechanical and electrical maintenance and repair work on motor vehicles; and performs other related duties as assigned.

To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:
LEGAL AUTHORIZATION TO WORK REQUIREMENT:
The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
Specialized Experience: Four (4) YEARS of work experience which involved the performance of automotive repair work under a journey-level automotive mechanic. At least TWO (2) YEARS of the required experience must also have involved utilizing computerized equipment to test, analyze, diagnose, and complete repairs of microprocessor-based systems and components on motor vehicles.
Commercial Driver's License (CDL): A valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class A with Endorsement N (Tank vehicles 1,000 gallons or more capacity), and have no restrictions relating to codes E (manual transmission) and I (Class C vehicle over 18,000 pounds GVWR) within six (6) months of hire.
A valid out-of-state CDL may also be accepted. If you are selected for this position, you must transfer your out-of-state CDL to a Hawaii-issued CDL prior to your employment start date and within 30 days of arriving in Hawaii. Your Hawaii-issued CDL will be verified by the hiring agency before you can start work. Please contact the Honolulu CDL Office at (808) 487-5534 for information on how to obtain a Hawaii CDL.
The Federal Department of Transportation regulations require pre-employment testing for controlled substances. If you are selected for this position, the hiring agency will notify you of when and where to report for testing.
Driver's License: Applicants must possess a valid driver's license at the time of appointment.
