Job Description and Duties
Under the direction of the Senior Transportation Electrical Engineer (Supervisor), the Transportation Engineer (Electrical) performs duties for the District’s Traffic Management Team (TMT). Evaluates traffic incidents to determine the TMT response and ensures that necessary resources are deployed to support traffic management and incident response. Coordinates with the Transportation Management Center (TMC) to dispatch appropriate resources, including sign trucks, and assists with traffic management planning for special events. Provides engineering support to Planning, Design, and Construction for Transportation Management Systems (TMS) activities.

Working Conditions
Position located at 13892 Victoria St Fontana CA, San Bernardino County.
Multiple positions may be filled from this recruitment.
While at their base of operation, employees will work in a climate-controlled office under artificial light. However, due to periodic problems with the heating and air conditioning, the building temperature may fluctuate. Most employees will work in workstations within shared cubicles. Working hours will be set sometime between 6:00 am. and 6:00 pm. Overtime may be required, and vacations may be restricted, during peak times and fiscal year-end closing. Employees may be required to travel in state, but the travel is not very frequent. Work in field will be required often in hot and cold outdoor weather.
This position may be eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on Caltrans’s evolving telework policy. Caltrans supports telework, recognizing that in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksites with minimum notification if an urgent need arises. The selected candidate will be required to commute to the headquartered location as needed to meet operational needs. Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee’s designated headquartered location, primary residence, and may be subject to CalHR regulations or applicable bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the headquartered location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.

- Appointment to Range D requires a valid Professional Engineering License (Electrical) issued by the California Board of Registration for Professional Engineers.

Candidates selected for this position must successfully pass a Department of Justice background check and the incumbent is also required to sign CHP Form 101A annually.
