Job Description and Duties
Under the general direction of the Principal Transportation Engineer for Civil Infrastructure Engineering Section, the Supervising Transportation Engineer serves as the Deputy Engineering Manager for various planning, design, and construction projects including but not limited to civil works, stations, infrastructure engineering, rail engineering, facilities, tracks, and systems. The Deputy Engineering Manager is responsible for day-to-day technical management and supervision of all activities related to project, contract, and engineering management, project development, and delivery of assigned projects. The incumbent will work with the Principal Transportation Engineer to deliver and meet the goals and objectives of the assigned high-speed rail (HSR) projects.

Working Conditions
While working on-site, the incumbent works in a professional office environment, in a climate-controlled area which may fluctuate in temperature and is under artificial light. The incumbent will be required to use a computer, mouse, and keyboard, and will be required to sit for long periods of time at a computer screen.

Desirable Qualifications
- Knowledge of and ability to apply engineering judgement in areas of design, civil engineering, structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, and tunneling on transportation civil infrastructure projects.
- Experience in areas of structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, and tunneling on civil infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge or familiarity with the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance of Way Association requirements pertaining to HSR systems.
- Experience with standard design criteria manuals utilized in civil infrastructure projects including standard specifications and/or directive drawings.
- Demonstrates analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to achieve positive results.
- Demonstrates project management skills to direct professional staff.
- Experience managing and administering engineering contracts.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with all levels of Authority management and employees, external groups, and local governments.
- Experience managing, directing, assigning, checking work, and giving instructions to engineers and others.
- Experience in areas of project management, project development and/or design, and construction on transportation civil infrastructure projects.
- Ability to exercise a high degree of initiative, flexibility, and judgment.
