Job Description and Duties
PARK MAINTENANCE WORKER I (PERMANENT FULL-TIME) - DIABLO RANGE DISTRICT - CARNEGIE STATE VEHICULAR RECREATION AREA
This classification is subject to the Post and Bid process. Applications from a certification list, transfer change in class, reinstatement, re-employment, and training and development assignment candidates will be accepted for this position but consistent with the MOU/Bargaining Agreement BU12/13 contract cannot be acted upon unless the Post & Bid process does not result in a hire.
The reporting location for this position is Carnegie State Vehicular Recreation Area, 18600 Corral Hollow Rd., Tracy, CA. This position will work under the supervision of the Park Maintenance Chief I.
The California Department of Parks and Recreation is seeking a motivated and skilled Park Maintenance Worker I to join our small but mighty team in the Altamont Sector. This unique position serves multiple park units, including Carnegie State Vehicular Recreation Area, Bethany Reservoir State Recreation Area, and the Alameda Tesla Property.
This is not a position where you'll spend every day doing the same task. We need someone who can think on their feet, adapt to changing priorities, and take initiative to solve problems across a wide range of maintenance, resource management, and operational needs. As the sole Park Maintenance Worker I assigned to the sector, this position offers an exceptional opportunity for someone who thrives on initiative, ingenuity, and problem-solving while working both independently and as part of a dedicated team. From repairing facilities and maintaining infrastructure to supporting resource protection efforts and water systems, you'll have the opportunity to make a direct and visible impact across some of California's most unique and diverse park properties.

Although not required, if you possess a California Class A or B driver’s license, you will need to provide evidence of the certifications and license before appointment. Special Requirement/Condition of Employment: Depending on the assigned location, the incumbent may be required to occupy state-owned housing to meet operational needs, or may be offered state-owned housing if available. Housing assignments will be determined in accordance with Department policy, operational priorities, and applicable labor agreements.
