Job Description and Duties
As the state’s federally mandated Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (MFCU), the division of Medi-Cal Fraud and Elder Abuse (DMFEA) works aggressively to investigate and prosecute fraudulent activities and the illegal diversion of health care resources from California’s most vulnerable citizens.
Under the general supervision of the Supervisor I, the Office Technician (Typing) (OT-T) performs a variety of typical and general office duties for the Administrative Branch of the Division of Medi-Cal Fraud and Elder Abuse (DMFEA). The OT-T assists analysts in the branch by ensuring fiscal, contracts, procurement, and administrative information is accurately processed, tracked, and maintained in various databases. The OT-T is responsible for operating the front desk and executing reception duties at the DMFEA Sacramento office(s). The OT-T exercises initiative and professionalism; and works with both internal and external stakeholders and executive management to obtain updates, signatures, and review documents. May receive direction from the management team within the DMFEA Administrative Branch.

Working Conditions
This position is in office only, with a set schedule of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. Office work in a smoke-free environment. This location offers free parking, and is close to shopping, restaurants, and the freeway.

Desirable Qualifications
The ideal candidate possesses strong customer service and interpersonal skills with demonstrated experience managing a professional front-desk reception area, operating multiline telephone systems, and coordinating conference and visitor logistics. Desirable qualifications include proficiency in administrative, clerical, and fiscal support tasks, such as tracking travel expense claims, processing invoices, preparing revolving fund check requests, and monitoring procurement records across state accounting databases and spreadsheets. The successful candidate demonstrates exceptional attention to detail in data entry, report preparation, and document management, alongside experience coordinating office equipment maintenance and utilizing shipping software (e.g., FedEx). Additionally, the candidate should exhibit strong organizational and time-management abilities to handle competing priorities, adapt to special branch projects, provide onboarding or task-based training to seasonal staff, and work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.
