DSH-Metropolitan is accepting applications for Office Technician (Typing) Permanent/Fulltime. Working Title: Office Technician (Typing) – Clinical Laboratory Medical Services Department.
Under the general direction of the Supervisor/Manager of the Clinical Laboratory, the Office Technician (Typing) performs a variety of complex clerical and operations support tasks inside the medical infrastructure. The incumbent functions as the primary Clinical Laboratory Administrative Assistant, executing critical data logging, tracking system turnaround times, managing strict medical records compliance, and ensuring seamless provider communication.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to; typing laboratory procedure manuals, managing timekeeping and attendance records of laboratory personnel, writing routine correspondence, and handling billing charges of all send-out laboratory tests daily. Exercises initiative and independence in managing the Laboratory Information System (LIS). Executes specimen accessioning by accurately entering patient data, test orders, and insurance information into the electronic record system. Monitors and tracks laboratory "Turnaround Time" (TAT) reports to identify and resolve clerical bottlenecks.
Maintains comprehensive filing systems for clinical records, quality control logs, and equipment maintenance schedules in compliance with CLIA, TJC, and State standards. Coordinates the distribution of laboratory reports to medical units and ensures appropriate archiving of sensitive patient biological data. Prepares and purges records according to state hospital retention policies. Coordinates with external reference labs for specimen transport and result retrieval. Manages laboratory supply inventory and processes procurement requests to ensure uninterrupted clinical operations.
