Job Description and Duties
ENGINEER, CIVIL– FACILITIES AND DEVELOPMENT/SOUTHERN SERVICE CENTER/SAN DIEGO OR SACRAMENTO
This is a statewide recruitment. The reporting location for this position is negotiable with the Sacramento and San Diego counties being preferred.
This recruitment is until filled and applications will be reviewed on a monthly basis. The cutoff date(s) will be the 1st business day of each month from August 2026 - February 2027.

If you’re passionate about the intersection of climate resilience, sustainable stewardship, resource preservation, and coastal access and recreation, this is your opportunity to help shape the future of the California coast! California State Parks is launching a new Coastal Resilience Team to help advance sea level rise adaptation and improve coastal resilience across the coastal parks of the California State Park System. This team of specialists will work together to inform coastal adaptation projects; integrate climate principles into Department policies, operations, and programs; and provide technical support to coastal parks.
In this role you will:
- Support the development and maintenance of department-wide policy and guidance to address coastal hazards in preservation planning and adaption strategies.
- Develop plans, specifications, and cost estimates for coastal resiliency projects in the State Park’s System.
- Develop tools to improve the resilience of State Park’s built environment and Resources against threat of sea level rise
- Conduct site visits, formulate projects and policy setting related to sea level rise
We’re looking for candidates who:
- Bring strong expertise in Coastal Engineering
- Have experience developing plans, specifications, and estimates
- Have experience performing field site assessments
- Demonstrate strong teamwork skills and a willingness to collaborate
Training and Development Assignments may be considered.
This position is designated as telework eligible-office centered.
