Job Description and Duties

Effective July 1, 2025, the California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) which reduces an employee’s monthly salary by 3% (BU 4) in exchange for leave credits. The salary range(s) included on this job advertisement do not reflect this reduction in pay. Employees appointed to this classification will have their monthly salary reduced and will accrue PLP 2025 hours on the first day of each pay period in accordance with their applicable Bargaining Unit contract.

Under the supervision of the Administrative and Assets Manager (Supervisor I), the Office Technician (Typing) is responsible for providing clerical support in the Division’s Southern District Office. The incumbent will utilize a personal computer, facsimile machine, photocopier, scanner, printer, telephone, and other office equipment to perform required work. The incumbent is expected to perform a variety of the most difficult clerical duties and to consistently exercise a high degree of initiative, independence and originality in performing assigned tasks. The incumbent will regularly perform detailed and sensitive public contact and/or independent origination of correspondence involving the knowledge and application of detailed regulations, policies and procedures. Good judgment and the ability to communicate effectively are of primary importance at this level. Incumbent is expected to have responsibility for functional guidance in training and assisting less experienced employees.

Working Conditions
This position is located at the California Geologic Energy Management Division - Southern District office and requires daily in-office attendance at 3780 Kilroy Airport Way, Suite 400, Long Beach, CA 90806. Alternative work locations will not be considered.
