Job Description and Duties

The California Secretary of State’s Business Programs Division is seeking qualified applicants to fill one permanent, full-time Supervising Program Technician III position in the Los Angeles regional office.
Under the general direction of a Supervisor I, Supervisor II, and/or the Assistant Division Chief, the incumbent works with a high level of independence and trains, plans, organizes, and directs the work of a moderate sized staff through subordinate supervisors or directly with staff as needed, performing the most complex work.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Have good working knowledge of the effective principles of supervision
  • Candidate should have a good understanding of organizational techniques and time management skills, including techniques for prioritizing multiple projects to ensure completion by established deadlines
  • Excellent problem resolution skills
  • Possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Candidate should be able to interact effectively with the public and all levels of departmental personnel and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships
  • Demonstrate ability to take initiative, be flexible, work independently, and have the willingness to learn new duties
  • Handle sensitive and confidential information with tact and diplomacy
  • Maintain regular, consistent, and predictable attendance in the performance of these specific functions

  2. This position requires the ability to interact effectively with the public and all levels of departmental personnel while handling sensitive information with tact and diplomacy. Describe a situation where you had to de-escalate a conflict or address a sensitive issue involving a difficult customer, public stakeholder, or a colleague. What communication strategies did you use to maintain a cooperative working relationship?

Due to business needs, no teleworking option is offered for this position. This position will be expected to be 100% onsite to perform normal duties.
