Job Description and Duties

The Office of Project Management, Executive Division, is looking for a key leadership position to help manage enterprise-level projects in a challenging and rewarding work environment. Department of Water Resources (DWR) was established in 1956 by the California State Legislature. We manage California’s water resources, systems, and infrastructure, including the State Water Project, in a responsible sustainable way.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced project manager with a broad knowledge of project development, tracking and delivery, with an emphasis on enterprise level program management and reporting. The Candidate should also possess the ability to work effectively with others to promote a positive work environment. A strong candidate will possess knowledge of:

  • Microsoft Project, SharePoint and Power BI,
  • Project Management Institutes’ (PMI) Project Management Body of Knowledge,
  • SAP reporting, and
  • State contracting requirements, development, and procurement.
  • PMI certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) is desired but not required.

  2. What is your experience with managing long-term project milestones? What methods did you use to ensure your projects stayed on scope, schedule, and budget targets for projects spanning 3-5 years in duration?
  3. This position will develop and implement project management tools. Please describe your experience creating interactive dashboards and reports that enable users to visualize and analyze data. Please identify the tools you used and provide one example of how the data and information was used to make better decisions and improve efficiency.
