Job Description and Duties
Under the general direction of the Supervising Engineer, WR in the Outreach and Engagement Section of the Sustainable Groundwater Management Office (SGMO), in the Executive Division, the Senior Engineer, WR, serves as a non-supervisory Specialist and performs, plans, organizes, leads, and reviews complex water resource development, investigations, and engineering studies to support the implementation of the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA).

Department of Water Resources (DWR) was established in 1956 by the California State Legislature. We manage California’s water resources, systems, and infrastructure, including the State Water Project, in a responsible sustainable way.

Desirable Qualifications
1) Proactive; can learn and adapt quickly; safety conscious; exhibit strong organizational and project management skills; exemplary written and oral communication skills; possess and exhibit inter-personal skills; and can work cooperatively in multidisciplinary teams, with local agencies, and stakeholder groups, 2) knowledge of the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) and DWR’s roles and responsibilities implementing the Act, 3) knowledge and practical experience assessing water supplies and demands, as well as, conducting other complex water resources engineering assessments, 4) experience preparing technical reports and experience preparing or delivering presentations to the public, knowledge/experience with CA Water Plan or other DWR Initiatives.
