This position can be located in either Sacramento or Los Angeles County.
The Senior Structural Engineer performs construction document review to ensure compliance with the California Building Standards Codes (CBSC) and recommends policies, procedures, and guidelines pertaining to seismic compliance in conformance with Senate Bill (SB) 1953. Assesses and recommends approval of evaluation and compliance plans, observes the healthcare facilities to verify compliance with the requirements of SB 1953. Performs preliminary, triage, normal, expedite, and over-the-counter reviews of submittal documents pertaining to the structural engineering work in the design and construction of healthcare facilities as required to ensure compliance with Title 24, California Code of Regulations (CCR). Maintains current certification/registration with appropriate licensing board.
This position is subject to the Form 700 Statement of Economic Interests filing requirements, which requires disclosure of certain personal economic interests as determined by the Conflict of Interest Code of the Department of Health Care Access and Information. Pursuant to Government Code section 81008, Form 700 Statement of Economic Interests is public record and will be made available for public inspection.

Desirable Qualifications
- Experience within the last 5 years with California Building Standards Codes, Title 24 Building Codes and Regulations, and other California business practices, policies and interpretations for health facilities, hospitals.
- Knowledge and experience in structural design and construction materials and methods in hospital design.
- Knowledge and experience in evaluation and retrofit of existing structures using the California Building Codes.
- Experience performing structural engineering plan review and/or construction observation.
- Structural engineering experience within the last 5 years in hospital design and Construction in California.
- Experience performing technical evaluation of construction documents and inspecting or reviewing quality of structural engineering work in office and/or field.
- Experience working and resolving issues with a multi-disciplinary team, clients, contractors and other technical and professional staff.
- Demonstrate a commitment to performing duties in a service-oriented manner.
- Communicate well with others and handle sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy.
- Ability to apply technical skills to formulate practical solutions in resolving structural engineering plan and field review issues.
- Good writing and oral communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle stressful or sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy.
- Role and participation in the last 5 years in professional structural engineer organizations, technical committees, and continuing education seminars.
