Job Description and Duties
SENIOR PARK AIDE (SEASONAL) – CHANNEL COAST DISTRICT / LA PURISIMA MISSION STATE HISTORIC PARK
“Priority consideration will be given to any person receiving State public assistance under the CalWORKs program. Applicants who receive State public assistance need to identify their status as a CalWORKs recipient in the comments area on the application. Applicants must submit a verification of their CalWORKs eligibility status, which may include the most recent Notice of Action showing TANF eligibility or a copy of your last aid check stub. If verification is not submitted with the application, the application will not be processed. (Applicants may obtain verification from the CalWORKs program).”
The reporting location for this position is La Purisima Mission State Historic Park, 2295 Purisima Road, Lompoc CA 93436. This position will work under the direction of the State Park Interpreter III.
This position will collect fees, greet visitors, assists in cleaning historic buildings, assist the interpretive staff with interpretation and education programs and activities, special events, outreach, housekeeping of reconstructed historic buildings, fee collection and visitor services operations. This position is required to wear a State Park uniform. The incumbent will operate the entrance kiosk, collect fees, help with park operations and cleaning historic buildings, assisting in interpretive / educational programs and working in the visitor center.
Work hours will vary, and applicants must be able to work days, weekends, holidays and special events. Occasional travel may be required. The incumbent may work in other park units within Channel Coast District as directed. This position may work up to 1500 hours within 12 consecutive months. This position is designated as not telework eligible.
A Department and District approved uniform is required to be worn during work hours.
The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.
Possession of a valid driver’s license of the appropriate class and a safe driving record as documented by the Department of Motor Vehicles within 60 days prior to appointment. (A safe driving record is one free from convictions in the past two years for repeated moving violations or a single serious violation, such as drunk driving or reckless driving.)

Work Environment:
Must be able to work in inclement, hot or cold weather for extended periods of time
Must be able to stand or sit for extended periods of time

Physical Abilities:
Must be able to lift 40 lbs. and move supplies with hand cart over uneven surfaces.
