Working Conditions
- Occasional travel in-region, and rare out-of-region travel is required for this position, using a personal vehicle for official state business; mileage reimbursement will be provided in accordance with state regulations. Must possess and maintain a valid California driver's license and carry adequate vehicle insurance as required by state policy. This position requires occasional work during evenings and/or weekends. The position(s) require(s) the ability to type at a minimum speed as designated on the Class Specifications (link available in the additional documentation section). You must obtain a valid typing certificate confirming your ability to meet the minimum typing speed, prior to being hired. Additional information regarding acceptable typing tests is available at the CalCareers.ca.gov website.This position is designated bilingual and requires the incumbent to perform essential job functions in Spanish at least 10% of the time. Responsibilities include providing written and/or oral translation between English and Spanish as part of daily duties.
- Personal Leave Program: Effective July 1, 2025, state employees are subject to temporary salary reductions ranging from 2% to 4.62% in exchange for Personal Leave Program (PLP) hours. The State Council on Developmental Disabilities (SCDD) is an independent state agency mandated by federal and state law to pursue systemic change, capacity-building, and advocacy to promote a person-centered consumer and family-based system of services and supports for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD) and/or crossed disabilities. The goal of the federal law is to enable individuals with I/DD (self-advocates) to maximize their self-determination, independence, productivity, and community integration and inclusion. The State Council (Council) consists of 31 voting individual, family, and agency members, all of whom are appointed by the Governor.

Desirable Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent organizational abilities, strong customer service skills, and a keen attention to detail. They should be proficient in Microsoft Office and other standard office software, with experience supporting meetings, community meetings and/or events, and maintaining accurate records and operational processes. The ability to handle confidential information with discretion and interact professionally with diverse individuals, including those with developmental disabilities, is essential. A background or interest in public service or disability advocacy is highly desirable. Verbal fluency in Spanish is highly desirable.

State of Qualifications.
