Job Description and Duties
The Children and Families Service Division (CFSD) is seeking a creative, enthusiastic, highly organized individual with strong administrative skills to join our team! The CFSD is responsible for designing and overseeing an array of programs and services for California's at-risk children and families, including preventative services and activities to serve youth with complex needs; providing a statewide system for out of home care providers and appropriate services to children in out of home care; and facilitation of adoptions for children who need permanent homes.
Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Deputy Director of the CFSD, the Executive Assistant assumes a critical role in the management of the daily operations of the Deputy Director's Office. In this capacity, this position directly supports the following work:
• Coordination and management of the Assistant/Deputy Directors' calendars.
• Arranging travel logistics.
• Quickly tracking work items through various systems (e.g., Correspondence Tracking System) and organizing data.
• Communication with a wide range of individuals, including Executive and Division level leaders and staff and external partners.
• Collaborating with Divisions staff to improve procedure and develop system innovations.
• Acting Attendance Clerk, Timekeeping.

Working Conditions
Who May Apply: Eligible candidates who are current state employees with status in the above classification, lateral transfers from an equivalent class, former state employees who can reinstate into this class, and persons who are reachable on a current employment list for this classification. The selected candidate is subject to fingerprinting and criminal record clearance by the DOJ and FBI. All appointments are subject to the SROA/Surplus provisions.
This position is eligible for hybrid work in accordance with the Governor’s Executive Order N-22-25 and at the sole discretion of the Department of Social Services under California Government Code Section 14200. All telework schedules are subject to change and may be re-evaluated at any time. The incumbent will be expected to report for in office work and attend work related in-person events as deemed operationally necessary. Telework does not change the terms and conditions of employment, the essential functions of job duties, or required compliance with the CDSS policies. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.

Training and Development assignments may be considered based on the availability of eligible candidates and are subject to approval by the Hiring Authority prior to appointment. Training and Development assignments are temporary in nature and shall not exceed twenty-four (24) months.
