Job Description and Duties

Are you passionate about ergonomics, workplace injury prevention, and improving the way people work? Join State Compensation Insurance Fund, California’s leading workers’ compensation insurance carrier, and help employers identify workplace risks factors, implement practical solutions, and support healthier work environments across a wide range of industries.

State Compensation Insurance Fund is seeking an experienced and motivated ergonomist to fill the Associate Safety Engineer position and provide consultative services that help employers reduce workplace injuries, improve operational processes, and minimize workers’ compensation costs.

Under general supervision, you will:

  • Provide ergonomic assessments for a variety of policyholders, primarily with industrial operations throughout Southern California that present more complex and difficult risk conditions
  • Conduct workplace evaluations, identifying engineering controls and work practices that reduce musculoskeletal injuries
  • Deliver professional high level ergonomic training to policyholder employees and Loss Prevention peers, which can involve research and mentoring.

This position involves frequent travel throughout Southern California, generally south of Bakersfield; the exact service area will be divided with a colleague at time of hire.

The selected candidate will work within a hybrid environment and conduct onsite ergonomic evaluations and consultations with employers throughout the assigned region.

Interviews for this position will be conducted online and in person for finalists.

You will find additional information about the job in the Duty Statement.
