Job Description and Duties
PARK MAINTENANCE CHIEF I – INLAND EMPIRE DISTRICT / SILVERWOOD SECTOR / SILVERWOOD LAKE STATE RECREATION AREA
The reporting location for this position is Silverwood Lake State Recreation Area (SRA), 14651 Cedar Circle, Hesperia, CA, 92345. This position will work under the general direction of the State Park Superintendent III, the Sector Superintendent.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a strong leadership ability to fill the Park Maintenance Chief I (PMC I) position. The PMC I is responsible for the supervision, direction, and accomplishment of all sector facilities maintenance for Silverwood Sector. This position will be involved in all maintenance aspects of both Silverwood Lake State Recreation Area and Providence Mountain State Park, and will oversee (directly and indirectly) a diverse team of Maintenance classifications including a Park Maintenance Supervisor, Maintenance Mechanics, Park Maintenance Worker IIs, Park Maintenance Worker Is, Park Maintenance Assistants, Groundskeepers, and seasonal staff. This position may travel throughout the district to provide support to other park units for operational need.
Training and Development Assignments may be considered.
Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license is required. You must answer the questions addressing your driver’s license on your application. Ensure you provide your driver’s license number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions on your application.
The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.
Per California Code of Regulations (CCR) 599.961, this is a sensitive position, and therefore subject to drug and alcohol testing. It should be noted that testing is not mandatory, but is allowed to be conducted only if and when there is a determination of reasonable suspicion as defined in CCR 599.962.
This position is designated as not telework eligible.
