Job Description and Duties

STATE PARK EQUIPMENT OPERATOR - DIABLO RANGE DISTRICT / CONTRA-SOLANO SECTOR / MOUNT DIABLO STATE PARK

This classification is subject to the Post and Bid process. Applications from a certification list, transfer change in class, reinstatement, re-employment, and training and development assignment candidates will be accepted for this position but consistent with the MOU/Bargaining Agreement BU12/13 contract cannot be acted upon unless the Post & Bid process does not result in a hire.

The incumbents work schedule will be Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM

The
reporting location for this position is Mount Diablo State Park Service Yard at on South Gate Road of Mount Diablo near Danville, CA. This position will work under the direction of the Park Maintenance Chief I.

The State Park Equipment Operator (SPEO) operates all equipment including heavy equipment throughout the sector, when necessary. The SPEO will also operate a variety of heavy or complex motorized maintenance and construction equipment used in the State Park System to operate trucks, equipment carriers, and other power equipment to perform minor maintenance of such equipment and to do other related work. The ideal candidate will be self-directed and motivated and willing to work as a member of the overall Sector Team.
The incumbent will be responsible for transport and operation of heavy equipment such as loaders, excavators, backhoes, bulldozers, road graders, and water trucks. The incumbent will work with resource crews, conservation corps crews, and seasonal employees. Other occasional duties for this position include attending staff meetings, assisting in emergency activities (rescue, first aid, Storm events, etc.), preparing and leading safety or accident prevention meetings.

This position is designated as not telework eligible.
