Job Description and Duties

PARK MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT (PERMANENT INTERMITTENT) / NORTH COAST REDWOODS DISTRICT / FORT HUMBOLDT STATE HISTORIC PARK

The reporting location for this is Reporting location 3431 Fort Avenue, Eureka, CA 95503 Fort Humboldt State Historic Park. This position works under the supervision of the Park Maintenance Supervisor. Work schedule is Sunday through Thursday 8:00 to 4:30 PM

The Park Maintenance Assistant performs routine facility maintenance, housekeeping, and groundskeeping duties to support park operations and ensure that park facilities remain safe, clean, and functional for visitors and staff. Duties include cleaning restrooms and public facilities, picking up litter and debris in day-use areas and parking lots, maintaining trails and grounds, and assisting with minor maintenance and repair projects. Assist with a variety of maintenance activities including painting, carpentry, plumbing, trail maintenance, and general facility upkeep. This position may also assist with vegetation maintenance, operate maintenance equipment such as mowers, blowers, and other power tools, and perform minor maintenance on tools and equipment. May lead and train seasonal staff.

groundskeeping, or facility maintenance experience, including any tools or equipment used.

Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license is required. You must answer the questions addressing your driver’s license on your application. Ensure you provide your driver’s license number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions on your application.

The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.

This position may work up to 1500 hours in any calendar year.

Per California Code of Regulations (CCR) 599.961, this is a sensitive position, and therefore subject to drug and alcohol testing. It should be noted that testing is not mandatory, but is allowed to be conducted only if and when there is a determination of reasonable suspicion as defined in CCR 599.962.

This position is designated as not telework eligible.
