Job Description and Duties

PARK MAINTENANCE CHIEF III – GREAT BASIN DISTRICT / DISTRICT OFFICE / LOS ANGELES COUNTY

The reporting location for this position is the Great Basin District Office in Lancaster, CA. This position will work under the general direction of the District Superintendent I.

This position is responsible for the administration of the District’s Maintenance Program in all Parks and OHV units. Oversight is including but not limited to buildings: category I & II; public use buildings; state employee housing; offices; facility housekeeping; kiosks; and maintenance buildings. Grounds: landscaping, irrigation, and tree services; road maintenance and trail maintenance; parking areas; gates and fences. Equipment: all state equipment: heavy equipment; district assigned vehicles; district assigned off-highway vehicles; and property inventory, capital outlay development review, and implementation of all maintenance equipment. In addition, the District Park Maintenance Chief works with the Administrative Chief to maintain assigned budgetary dollars to coordinate the entire District maintenance program needs and provides technical staff services, equipment, budgeting special programs such as ADA, Project Agreements, and Schedule 9 - fleet management. The incumbent is responsible for the ordering of the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and supplies to maintain each Sector’s maintenance program and to assure safety. This position supervises and plans, directs, organizes, and schedules the maintenance program for the District which consists of the District Water and Sewer Supervisor, Park Maintenance Supervisors and Park Maintenance Chiefs, State Park Equipment Operators, and all other maintenance staff throughout the district.


Training and Development Assignments may be considered.

The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.

This position is designated as not telework eligible.

Employees who work to support State Vehicle Recreation Areas (SVRA) utilize the OHV Trust Fund and are responsible for appropriate use of the fund and to help ensure program transparency, accountability, and compliance (TAC) goals are met.
