Under close supervision of the Business Service Officer II (Supervisor), the Mailing Machines Operator (MMO) I performs a variety of mail processing duties to support the functions and responsibilities of the Bulk Mail Unit. The MMO I will operate multi-function machinery including but not limited to inserters, postage meters, and various folding and strapping machines to process large volumes of outgoing mail. The MMO I will be responsible for processing outgoing mail in a timely and effective manner using recognized best practices. The MMO I works in a busy unit handling time critical and sensitive materials with stringent deadlines.

Under Government Code 14200, this position may be eligible for partial telework for eligible candidates residing in California. All telework/hybrid schedules require staff to report to the office a minimum number of days per week. Schedules are subject to change.
Currently, per the California Budget Act of 2025, all California Department of Tax and Fee Administration salaries are subject to the provisions of the State of California’s Personal Leave Program.

Working Conditions
- Position may be located in a high-rise building.
- Standard office environment.
- Requires being in a stationary position, consistent with office work, for extended periods of time.
- Daily use of a personal computer, office equipment, and/or telephone.
- Must be able to move/transport boxes weighing up to fifty pounds (50 lbs.), with or without reasonable accommodation.

Desirable Qualifications
- Ability to remain stationary to operate machinery for a full (8) hour shift, with possible overtime.
- Ability to operate machinery and communicate with CDTFA personnel and private sector vendor repair/service personnel.
- Excellent attendance and dependability.
- Ability to work early in the morning and work mandatory overtime as needed.
