The Delta Stewardship Council is seeking a collaborative, strategic, and highly organized Environmental Program Manager I (Supervisory) to lead the Delta Independent Science Board (ISB) support program within the Delta Science Program. You will oversee ISB meeting operations and review processes, and ensure that the Board’s work advances the Council’s mission to support a reliable statewide water supply and a healthy, resilient Delta ecosystem.
We’re located in the new state of the art Natural Resources Building in downtown Sacramento. Our building features ergonomic furniture, panoramic downtown views, a free employee gym, a cafeteria and bodega, call and conference rooms, adjacent childcare, and much more.

The Delta Reform Act of 2009 created the Delta Stewardship Council (Council). The mission of the Council is to achieve the coequal goals of "...providing a more reliable water supply for California and protecting restoring and enhancing the Delta ecosystem... in a manner that protects and enhances the unique cultural, recreational, natural resource, and agricultural values of the Delta as an evolving place" (CA Water Code SS 85054). To do this, the Council developed the Delta Plan, which is an enforceable long-term sustainable management plan for the Delta to ensure coordinated action at the federal, state, and local levels.

Desirable Qualifications
- Experience in collaborating with scientists, engineers, and attorneys regarding complex resource management issues.
- Experience planning, organizing, and directing complex scientific or policy support programs, particularly those involving multi-year work plans and public board operations.
- Experience in developing and managing agendas, meeting schedules, and public records processes for high-visibility scientific or advisory bodies.
- Demonstrated supervisory experience overseeing professional or technical staff, including workload management, performance evaluations, coaching, and mentoring.
- Knowledge of complex topics relevant to Independent Science Board reviews.
- Experience with coordinating research staff, fellows, and contractors to ensure alignment with program-level priorities and schedules.
- Experience interacting with various levels of staff, management, appointed officials,stakeholders, and other Agencies in a professional and courteous manner.
- Experience in representing an organization in multi-stakeholder settings, providing briefings, and communicating review findings to leadership and partner agencies.
