Job Description and Duties
Do you have a passion for diverse engineering design, construction, and execution projects in wildlife, hatchery and ecological areas? Our engineering team has an amazing opportunity for a Civil Engineer to let their creative juices impact our department spaces. The position would be headquartered from our West Sacramento field office which boasts free parking and scenic trails, though occasional reimbursed statewide travel to field sites and projects is required. Using state of the art computer programs and surveying equipment, the candidate plans, designs, prepares complicated engineering calculations, details, negotiates, and accomplishes the design and preparation of drawings, specifications, and estimates for construction and maintenance of a wide variety of statewide civil engineering projects such as buildings, roadways, grading, drainage, water supply, and water disposal systems. Projects may also include the assessments of existing buildings, infrastructure, and related civil type engineering works. This position will use the Hybrid-Remote Model, with a maximum of two days a week in the office. Please refer to the attached duty statement for a complete list of duties.
In order to be eligible for this position, you must either be transfer eligible or take and pass the following exam.

This position is a 12-month Limited Term (LT) and may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent.
If you currently have permanent status in your position and have passed probation, you have mandatory reinstatement rights into your former position at the end of this LT appointment. If you have not had prior permanent or probationary civil service status, you will be separated from state service.
During this 12-month Limited Term assignment, you will receive full health, dental, and vision benefits! You will also earn State Service and accrue monthly leave credits.

Working Conditions
The office is located in West Sacramento. Must possess a valid California Driver's license, as travel throughout the state will be required. Operation of vehicles on public roadways to travel to remote areas with possible rugged terrain. Since remote areas typically do not have reliable cellular service, alternate transportation is not feasible. May require travel by air; travel on short notice; and overnight lodging will be required on some trips.
This job is hybrid telework with three days in the office and two days teleworking.

Desirable Qualifications
Ability to work with contractors and facility staff in the field. Ability to organize information and use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to construction related problems.
Possession of a California Civil Engineer license is desired.
