Job Description and Duties
Are you ready to join a dynamic team of safety professionals dedicated to helping California employers make their workplaces safe?
State Compensation Insurance Fund provides workers compensation insurance to California employers, from small to large businesses across all industries.
- We are looking for a dynamic safety professional to join our team in providing occupational safety inspection and consultation services to our policyholders. This position will provide safety services to policyholders with more complex and difficult risk conditions to reduce employee injury potential. This is a teleworking position which requires frequent travel to assigned accounts and mileage is reimbursed. The primary servicing territory will be parts of the Greater Bay Area such as Alameda County, Contra Costa County, Marin County, Napa County, Santa Clara County, San Francisco County, San Mateo County, Solano County and Sonoma County.
More complex and difficult risks include:
1. Businesses using more sophisticated and difficult-to-evaluate technologies
and/or engineering controls
2. Businesses with multiple locations
3. Businesses with significant losses related to difficult-to-identify hazards and
industrial operations with high-level sophistication
4. High-profile preferred brokers
5. Specialized services of lesser complexity such as industrial hygiene and
ergonomics services (i.e., noise dosimetry and industrial ergonomic
evaluations)
6. Accounts that usually present unforeseen or unique difficulties

Working Conditions

Selected candidate(s) hired may be required to attend in-person Onboarding at our Vacaville office with expenses for attendance paid by State Fund.

Effective July 1, 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) which reduces an employee’s monthly salary in exchange for leave credits. Employees appointed to this classification will have their monthly salary reduced and will accrue hours of PLP 2025 on the first day of each pay period in accordance with the applicable bargaining contract. The salary range(s) included on this job posting do not reflect the reduction in pay.

Desirable Qualifications
- Construction safety expertise is an asset
- Assessing workplace injury/illness risk based on business operations to improve safety
- Adept at interpreting workplace safety regulations regarding workerscompensation and occupational safety and health
- Ability to interpret charts, graphs and mechanical relationships
- Proficient at public presentations, training employees and employers
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Self-motivated and work with minimal direct supervision - Team player
- Effective written and oral communication. This includes strong report writing skills with a variety of report writing software.
- Ability to document services effectively, using non-technical terms and vocabulary that will be clearly understood by policyholders
- Bilingual in Spanish is an asset
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and/or Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designations are assets
