Job Description and Duties
PARK MAINTENANCE CHIEF I – DESERT DIVISION / COLORADO DESERT DISTRICT / ANZA-BORREGO DESERT STATE PARK
The reporting location is the Anza-Borrego Maintenance office or Borrego Palm Canyon Campground Maintenance Shop in Borrego Springs, CA. This position will work under the direction of Park Maintenance Chief III.
The Park Maintenance Chief I (PMCI) is responsible for the maintenance services function and immediate supervision of the maintenance staff. This position will provide an excellent career opportunity for someone interested in all aspects of maintenance functions and will be responsible for Maintenance. The PMCI coordinates the budget for facility maintenance and equipment for inclusion in the District’s annual budget. Completes CEQA documents for specific projects, develops specifications for contracts, maintains park unit facility records, acts as unit recycling coordinator. Assists District staff with resource management projects within the units. Supervises unit Material Safety Data Sheet, respirator, and confined space programs and training. Services and supervising the maintenance staff for Anza-Borrego Desert State Park.
Training and Development Assignments may be considered.
Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license is required. You must answer the questions addressing your driver’s license on your application. Ensure you provide your driver’s license number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions on your application.
The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.
Per California Code of Regulations (CCR) 599.961, this is a sensitive position, and therefore subject to drug and alcohol testing. It should be noted that testing is not mandatory, but is allowed to be conducted only if and when there is a determination of reasonable suspicion as defined in CCR 599.962.
This position is designated as not telework eligible.

Special Requirement/Condition of Employment: Depending on the assigned location, the incumbent may be required to occupy state-owned housing to meet operational needs or may be offered state-owned housing if available. Housing assignments will be determined in accordance with Department policy, operational priorities, and applicable labor agreements.
