Job Description and Duties

PARK MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT – CENTRAL VALLEY DISTRICT / FACILITIES DEVELOPMENT / COLUMBIA STATE HISTORIC PARK

This classification is subject to the Post and Bid process. Applications from a certification list, transfer change in class, reinstatement, re-employment, and training and development assignment candidates will be accepted for this position but consistent with the MOU/Bargaining Agreement BU12/13 contract cannot be acted upon unless the Post & Bid process does not result in a hire.

The reporting location for this position is Columbia Maintenance Shop located at 22670 Main Street in Columbia, CA. This position will work under the supervision of Park Maintenance Supervisor.

The Park Maintenance Assistant (PMA) will primarily work at Columbia SHP but may work at other units in the Central Valley District, as directed. The PMA performs cleaning routines and grounds keeping in a professional and safe manner. While upholding safe work practices performing unskilled and semi-skilled labor and maintenance. Work performed will include, but not limited to, handling chemicals and the use of small engine equipment. The use of hand tools, some power tools, and will lead Seasonal Maintenance Aides in unskilled projects.

Training and Development Assignments may be considered.

Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license is required. You must answer the questions addressing your driver’s license on your application. Ensure you provide your driver’s license number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions on your application.

The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.

The incumbent’s work schedule will be Tuesday to Saturday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM

Per California Code of Regulations (CCR) 599.961, this is a sensitive position, and therefore subject to drug and alcohol testing. It should be noted that testing is not mandatory, but is allowed to be conducted only if and when there is a determination of reasonable suspicion as defined in CCR 599.962.

This position is designated as not telework eligible.
