***This is a Peace Officer Position. To be eligible, you must meet the minimum qualifications established by the Department of Human Resources AND either be currently eligible or eligible for reinstatement as a PC 830.2, California State Peace Officer.
If you are not a current peace officer and in possession of a POST – Academy, Basic, Intermediate or Advanced Certificate, you are not eligible for this position.

STATE PARK PEACE OFFICER SUPERVISOR (RANGER) – CENTRAL VALLEY DISTRICT / SAN JOAQUIN SECTOR / MILLERTON LAKE STATE RECREATION AREA
The reporting location for this position is Millerton Lake State Recreation Area in Friant, CA. This position will work under the supervision of State Park Superintendent II.
The function of the State Park Peace Officer Supervisor (Ranger) is assurance of the safety of the visitor, and interpretation and protection of natural, cultural, historical and recreational resources. The primary duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: supervise daily field operations; provide supervision for State Park Rangers, Lifeguards, Seasonal Lifeguards and Park Aides; review and approve all citations, and/or warnings, make arrests; Crime Reports, Traffic Accident Reports, Incident Reports and additional park-specific reports; assist the Sector Superintendent in maintaining liaison with all allied law enforcement agencies; serve as Field Training Supervisor for new State Park Peace Officers assigned to Sector; provide information on natural, cultural and historical resources; supervise Interpretive programs. Monitor and report on conditions of: regulatory and/or interpretive signs; boundary fences; gates; restoration projects; sensitive habitat areas; ecological reserves; designated trails; and archeological sites, for trespasses, encroachments or hazardous conditions.
Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license is required. You must answer the questions addressing your driver’s license on your application. Ensure you provide your driver’s license number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions on your application.
Per California Code of Regulations (CCR) 599.961, this is a sensitive position, and therefore subject to drug and alcohol testing. It should be noted that testing is not mandatory, but is allowed to be conducted only if and when there is a determination of reasonable suspicion as defined in CCR 599.962.
This position is designated as not telework eligible.
