Job Description and Duties
ASSOCIATE PARK & RECREATION SPECIALIST – CHANNEL COAST DISTRICT / SAN BUENAVENTURA STATE BEACH
The reporting location for this position is San Buenaventura State Beach District Office in Ventura, CA. This position will work under the general direction of the Senior Park & Recreation Specialist.
This position comes with opportunities for advancement based on experience and performance. At the entry level, duties include assisting with real property management, rights of entry, project evaluations, regulatory compliance, and community engagement efforts. The position also supports public outreach through social media, digital marketing, and website curation to share information on planning efforts, events, and public initiatives. With experience, responsibilities may expand to include project management, mentoring staff, leading public engagement strategies, and representing the District in interagency coordination and public meetings. Advancement may also lead to greater independence and leadership opportunities. The ideal candidate is professional, self-motivated, and collaborative, with strong communication and digital media skills.
Park & Recreation Specialist will also be considered for recruitment purposes.
Occasional travel may be required. Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license is required. You must answer the questions addressing your driver’s license on your application.
