Job Description and Duties

PARK AND RECREATION SPECIALIST (PERMANENT-INTERMITTENT) / NORTH COAST DISTRICT / SERVICE DRIVEN / FORT HUMBOLDT STATE HISTORIC PARK

Reporting location address is 3431 Fort Ave, Eureka, CA 95503. This position works under the close supervision of the Senior Park and Recreation Specialist.

Assist with environmental review and permitting to ensure projects meet state and federal requirements. Resolve property issues, including boundaries and encroachments, and track revenue agreements. Contribute to park planning efforts such as General Plans and Road and Trail Management Plans. Review development proposals near park boundaries to safeguard park resources. Use GIS, Excel, and other tools to track projects, budgets, and data. Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to bring projects from concept to completion. Position offers the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects that directly support forest health, habitat restoration, recreation planning, and environmental compliance across the North Coast Redwoods District.

This position may work up to 1500 hours in any calendar year.

Occasional travel or occasional weekend or evening work may be required. Possession of a valid driver’s license is required when operating a state owned or leased vehicle.

Training and Development Assignments may be considered.

This position is designated as telework eligible remote centered.

Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license is required. You must answer the questions addressing your driver’s license on your application. Ensure you provide your driver’s license number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions on your application.

The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.
