PARK MAINTENANCE WORKER I – CENTRAL VALLEY DISTRICT / FACILITIES DEVELOPMENT / COLUMBIA STATE HISTORIC PARK
This classification is subject to the Post and Bid process. Applications from a certification list, transfer change in class, reinstatement, re-employment, and training and development assignment candidates will be accepted for this position but consistent with the MOU/Bargaining Agreement BU12/13 contract cannot be acted upon unless the Post & Bid process does not result in a hire.
The reporting location for this position is Columbia State Historic Park in Columbia, CA. This position will work under the supervision of Park Maintenance Supervisor.
The Park Maintenance Worker I performs skilled and semi-skilled maintenance and repair of park systems and facilities including buildings, structures, campsites, picnic facilities, roads, parking areas, trails, fixtures, water and sewer systems, irrigation systems, and other historic, cultural, and recreational facilities. Work performed will include, but is not limited to, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and masonry and the use of power and hand tools. The incumbent may act as a lead person for other staff and work crews. This is an opportunity for a motivated individual to work at one of the most iconic parks in the System, serving hundreds of thousands of visitors from around the globe.
The position primarily works at Columbia SHP but may work at other units in the Central Valley District as directed. Columbia SHP consists of approximately 154 structures, the majority of which are historic. These structures include nearly 40 concession buildings, 16 exhibit buildings, 1 visitor center/museum, a museum collections facility, 2 park offices, 1 sector office, and the district office building. Columbia SHP also has approximately 47 residential houses, the majority of which are rented by members of the public.
Training and Development Assignments may be considered.
Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license is required. You must answer the questions addressing your driver’s license on your application. Ensure you provide your driver’s license number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions on your application.
The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.
The incumbent’s work schedule will be Tuesday to Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Per California Code of Regulations (CCR) 599.961, this is a sensitive position, and therefore subject to drug and alcohol testing. It should be noted that testing is not mandatory, but is allowed to be conducted only if and when there is a determination of reasonable suspicion as defined in CCR 599.962.
This position is designated as not telework eligible.

Special Requirement/Condition of Employment: Depending on the assigned location, the incumbent may be required to occupy state-owned housing to meet operational needs, or may be offered state-owned housing if available. Housing assignments will be determined in accordance with Department policy, operational priorities, and applicable labor agreements.
