SENIOR PARK AIDE (SEASONAL) – NORTHERN BUTTES DISTRICT / VALLEY SECTOR / WILLIAM B IDE ADOBE STATE HISTORIC PARK
“Priority consideration will be given to any person receiving State public assistance under the CalWORKs program. Applicants who receive State public assistance need to identify their status as a CalWORKs recipient in the comments area on the application. Applicants must submit a verification of their CalWORKs eligibility status, which may include the most recent Notice of Action showing TANF eligibility or a copy of your last aid check stub. If verification is not submitted with the application, the application will not be processed. (Applicants may obtain verification from the CalWORKs program).”
The Senior Park Aide reporting location is William B Ide Adobe State Historic Park, 21659 Adobe Rd. in Red Bluff, CA. The Senior Park Aide works under the supervision of the State Parks Interpreter III and under the general direction of the State Park Interpreter I.
The SPA is expected to work weekends, holidays, and evenings if necessary and assigned days off may vary from month to month. The normal work hours are 8-hour shifts occurring between the hours of 8:00 am to 10:00 pm, up to five days per week including weekends, holidays and during special events. This position can work 189 days in a 12 consecutive month period or a maximum of 1500 hours within 12 consecutive months per California Code of Regulation 265.1. This position is designated as not telework eligible. This is position wears a uniform, and the successful candidates will be required to purchase and wear a State Parks uniform.The Department of Parks and Recreation is hiring for a Senior Park Aide.
This position is seasonal with an approximate start date of May 1, 2026, and extending through late 2026.
Duties include the set-up, presentation and clean-up of interpretive programs, providing public tours, assist with the coordination of environmental education programs, presenting high school docent training and the presentation of school programs for children of varying ages. The park aide supports both on-site and virtual educational programming. Duties include working with the public, collection of park fees, merchandise sales, provide information to visitors, report public safety issues, and answer phone calls from the public, compile attendance figures, perform opening and closing procedures, and provide for light housekeeping throughout the facilities.
The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.
Possession of a valid driver’s license of the appropriate class and a safe driving record as documented by the Department of Motor Vehicles within 60 days prior to appointment. (A safe driving record is one free from convictions in the past two years for repeated moving violations or a single serious violation, such as drunk driving or reckless driving.)
